The Siberian Safari - Expedition Trip

Remote, cold, vast and uncompromising....sure! But what is less known about Siberia is that it is a land of varied, often sublime natural beauty, where the sun casts an exquisite light. From the lake dwellers of Baikal to the mountains of Altai, Siberia has many secrets.The unique Siberian Safari will now melt the mysteries of the ice fields, with this small group adventure - offering a guided introduction to this awe-inspiring part of the world. The tour cuts through the heart of Siberia - from the Altai mountains in the west to Lake Baikal in the east - the traveller is given a cross section of one of the least-explored regions of the globe, with the opportunity to travel on the Trans Siberian, see Nerpa seals and to ride with the nomads of the Altai steppe.
Accommodation
Hotel accommodation is offered in all three major towns stayed in. The rest of the trip accommodation will vary from yurt, tents, cabins and hunting lodges.

The local currency is the Russian Rouble.
Itineraries
16 Day TourDay 1 - Arrive in Barnaul. Travel by minibus down to Chemal, in the Altai mountains. Where a welcome Russian Style will greet you.
Day 2 - Join our guide Yuri, and your four legged partner, before the start of three days of horse trekking in the mountains. Visiting beautiful lakes, visiting caves etc
Day 3 - Horse trekking
Day 4 - Return to the base in Chemal, where we say goodbye to Yuri and the horses. And take time to relax and enjoy a Russian Banya.
Day 5 - You will hit the Katun river, for the start of two days white water rafting.
Day 6 - Rafting and evening entertainment.
Day 7 - Return to Barnaul for lunch. Then we drive north to the archetypal Siberian city - Tomsk.
Day 8 - Walking tour of Tomsk. Before joining the train to Irkutsk in the early evening.
Day 9 - A chance to relax and watch the Siberian heartland pass you by.
Day 10 - Arrival in Irkutsk, then travel to Olkhon Island on Lake Baikal.
Day 11 - Hike to the Burkhan Stone, and visit the Nerpa seals at the Khoboi Cape.
Day 12 - Return to Irkutsk
Day 13 - Tour of Irkutsk - including the Decembrists museum. Evening Entertainment.
Day 14 - Optional day trip to Listyanka
Day 15 - Return to U.K.
