Mountain Biking in Rodopi Mountains - Mountain biking Trip

Accommodation

We stay in family-run hotels (days 3 & 6) with private facilities and in guesthouses (the rest days) on HB (breakfast & dinner included). Ordering lunchpacks is available in each of the hotels if necessary for the day tours (at the amount of 5-6 Euro).

Itineraries

Arrival at Sofia or Plovdiv Airport and transfer to Plovdiv for overnight (2 hours from Sofia).

Transfer to a place situated few kilometres before \"Byala Cherkva\" hut (1650 m a.s.l.) where the biking begins on a dirt road. From this point through picturesque panoramic views you arrive by Assen\'s fortress. There you meet your guide who takes you first to Bachkovo Monastery, then to Brestnik village where you stay overnight in a villa with a beautiful garden and awesome panorama over Plovdiv city (biking distance - 40 km, taking about 4,15 h).
Uphill/downhill cycling – 500m/1000m.

Transfer to Lilkovo village (900 m a.s.l.). The cycling runs within the countryside Hadzhiitsa (1600 m a.s.l.) and further up - Popova Rock. The village of Hvoina is the last stop with a visit to \"Persenk\" hut (1750 m a.s.l.) and the village of Orehovo (1200 m a.s.l.) on the way. Transfer to the town of Chepelare, where we stay overnight (biking distance - 46 km, taking about 4,45 h).
Uphill/downhill cycling – 900m/1250m.

Transfer to the rock phenomenon \"The Miraculous Bridges\", then 1 km. further up to the \"Skalni mostove\" hut where the biking begins. Going further through old coniferous forest the track reaches \"Gluhite kamani\" (\"The Deaf Stones\") nature phenomenon (1920 m a.s.l.). At \"Izgrev\" hut (1820 m a.s.l.) you start a downhill biking all the way down to Chepelare. Transfer to the town of Smolian for overnight (biking distance - 42 km, taking about 4,30 h).
Uphill/downhill cycling – 350m/800m.

Having visited the beautiful Smolyan Lakes you are transferred a few kilometers uphill to the starting point where you leave the asphalt road and hit a gravel track. In a short while you get to “Stoudenets“ hut and Pamporovo ski-resort. From Pamporovo you continue to \"Stoudenets\" hut and after a short descent you end up the cycling for the day in Shiroka Luka village – an architectural reserve. Overnight in Shiroka Luka (biking distance - 38 km, taking about 3,45 h). Uphill/downhill cycling – 300m/950m.

Transfer to Gela village where the cycling starts. You pass by \"Lednitsata\" hut and then through the small villages Kassaka and Mougla (1550 m a.s.l.). Afterwards you hit the road which turns in macadam and starts climbing before reaching the ancient Chairski lakes. From the lakes a 12 km downhill track leads you to the marvelous Trigrad Gorge (1150 m a.s.l.) where you finish with cycling and visit The Devil\'s Throat Cave. Nearby is Trigrad village where we stay overnight (biking distance - 43 km, taking about 5,15 h). Uphill/downhill cycling – 600m/850m

You do a loop on your bikes: Trigrad - Vodni Pad village - Trigrad. Then you continue with a downhill cycling to Yagodina Cave, situated within the Buinovsko Gorge. After visiting the cave you get on the supporting vehicle. On our way to Plovdiv we enjoy the superb views over the Vacha and Krichim dams. We stay overnight in the city of Plovdiv (biking distance - 31 km, taking about 4,15 h).

After breakfast you will have transfer to Sofia or Plovdiv Airport for departure (transfer time: 20 min to Plovdiv Airport or 2 h to Sofia Airport)
