Intro

On this trip we not only get to visit the magnificent Machu Picchu, but also explore other parts of Perus spectacular selection of sights and scenery. We enjoy a homestay on Lake Titicaca, providing an insight into the way of life of the Uros Indians, uncover the secrets of the Incas in Cuzco, the ancient capital, and spend two nights in a remote lodge deep in the Amazon jungle.

Itineraries

Day 1, LIMA

Arrival day.

Day 2, LIMA PUNO

We fly to Puno, on the edge of Lake Titicaca, where we spend the night.

Day 3, LAKE TITICACA

We head out onto the sparkling waters of Lake Titicaca and visit the floating reed islands that have been made by the local Uros people. We spend the night with local families on one of the islands. (LD)

Day 4, LAKE TITICACA PUNO

After saying farewell to our host families, we make a stop at Taquile Island before returning by boat to Puno, where the rest of the day is free to explore. (B)

Day 5, PUNO - CUZCO

We take the bus to the beautiful city of Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital.

Days 6- 9, CUZCO SACRED VALLEY

Free time to explore Cuzco. There are a huge number of things to do - wander the cobbled streets, visit one of the many churches or hike, bike or ride horses to one of the archaeological sites outside the city. Other activities include white water rafting, canoeing, excursions into the jungle or shopping (make sure you bargain!). There is also the option to visit the Sacred Valley, home to a number of impressive Inca ruins, bustling markets and friendly villages. You certainly wont run short of things to do in Cuzco.

Day 10, MACHU PICCHU

We enjoy a visit to Machu Picchu and spend time exploring this magnificent ancient city.

Day 11, CUZCO

A further full day to explore Cuzco and recover from the hike. Wander the cobbled streets, see some of the old churches, go shopping or perhaps ride horses to one of the many archaeological sites outside the city.

Day 12, CUZCO - PUERTO MALDONADO

Fly from Cuzco to Puerto Maldonado, in the heart of the Amazon. We transfer by boat to a remote jungle lodge where we spend two nights. (LD)

Day 13, AMAZON

A full day to explore the Amazon jungle on foot and by canoe, accompanied by a local guide who will explain about the abundant flora and fauna. (BLD)

Day 14, AMAZON LIMA

We fly back to Lima. (B)

Day 15, LIMA

Tour ends.
