Day 1, NAIROBIArrival day.
Day 2, ARUSHAEarly departure to cross the border into Tanzania. Continue to Arusha. (BLD)
Days 3-5, SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND NGORONGORO CRATERTravelling in specialized 4WD vehicles we view the magnificent game these parks offer. The Serengeti National Park is world renowned for the great wildebeest migrations. We also visit the Ngorongoro National Park, the largest unbroken caldera in the world that plays host to up to 25,000 larger mammals and 100 species of birds. In the afternoon of day 5 we return to our camp in Arusha. (Days 3 & 4 - BLD, Day 5 - BL)
Day 6, DAR ES SALAAMWe proceed to the lively city of Dar es Salaam. We camp tonight on the beach. (BL)
Days 7-9, ZANZIBAREarly morning departure to catch the ferry to Zanzibar. This Indian Ocean island is a cultural melting pot of African, Arabic and Indian cultures, and is renowned for its spices. We stay in the north of the island, with turquoise waters and palm fringed beaches, and have two full days to explore. (B)
Day 10, DAR ES SALAAMReturn by ferry to Dar es Salaam. (BD)
Day 11, KIZOLONZAEarly morning departure through pristine and stunning bush for our camp at Kizolonza. (BLD)
Day 12, LAKE MALAWI CHIWETAToday we cross into Malawi - known as the warm heart of Africa. Lake Malawi is home to over 350 species of fish and its fresh clear water and beaches are excellent for swimming and relaxing. Tonight we stay at Chiweta, a rustic camp on the lake shore set amongst fantastic baobab trees. (BLD)
Days 13-14, LAKE MALAWI CHINTECHEOur journey continues down the lake to beautiful rural Chinteche, where we camp close to the shoreline for two days. (Day 13 - BLD, Day 14 - BL)
Day 15, LAKE MALAWI SENGA BAYProceed to Salima and the fantastic Senga Bay. Time to explore local villages or try out the many watersports and activities. (BLD)
Days 16-17, ZAMBIA SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARKHeading west we enter into Zambia and the awesome South Luangwa National Park - notably one of Africa's best-kept secrets. We enjoy 2 game drives into the park. (Day 16 - BL, Day 17 - BLD)
Day 18, VILLAGE CAMPWe depart for Luangwa to our African village camp. This is a wonderful way to catch a glimpse of rural life in Zambia, as we literally camp inside the village. (BLD)
Day 19, LUSAKAWe proceed to Lusaka and camp on the outskirts of the city in a privately owned rest camp. (BLD)
Day 20, VICTORIA FALLSToday we are bound for Victoria Falls - one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Explore at your leisure; take a sundowner cruise or enjoy a wealth of other adventure activities. (BL)
Day 21, VICTORIA FALLSFree day to explore or relax. (B)
Day 22, CHOBE NATIONAL PARKDeparting Victoria Falls we head for Botswana and our first border crossing. A short drive brings us to Kasane where we camp on the banks of the Chobe River. Chobe National Park is home to the largest herds of elephant in Africa and in the afternoon we take a guided river cruise with game viewing opportunities. (BL)
Day 23, MAUNA long day as we travel through Botswana and on to the little town of Maun, which is the gateway to the Okavango Delta. (BL)
Days 24-25, OKAVANGO DELTA - MOKORO SAFARIThe Okavango Delta is an incredible maze of inland waterways and lagoons. We'll be on safari 'mokoro' style, poled gently along in canoes, hand hewn from logs, through this haven of wildlife and birds. We also take guided game walks to experience the full splendour of the region. Overnight in wild camps. (BLD)
Day 26, MAUNAfter breakfast we are poled back to our vehicle and transfer to our camp in Maun. (BLD)
Day 27, GOBABISCross the border into Namibia. We stay near Gobabis on a private game farm, dedicated to the protection of big cats. We should have excellent opportunities for seeing lion, leopard and cheetah up close. (BL)
Day 28, WATERBERG PLATEAU NATIONAL PARKTravel via Windhoek to the Waterberg Plateau National Park. Historically significant because it was the site of the war between the Germans and the Hereros, the area has now become a haven for many endangered species and is renowned for its incredible rock formations and walks. Plenty of free time to walk in the park or take optional game drives and guided walks. (BLD)
Days 29-30, ETOSHA NATIONAL PARKEtosha National Park is Namibia's premier game park. Dominated by shimmering white saltpans you have a chance to see elephant as well as black rhino, lion and leopard. We enjoy 3 game drives whilst at Etosha. (Day 9 - BLD, Day 10 BL)
Days 31-32, SWAKOPMUNDWe spend two nights in Swakopmund, a delightful Bavarian-style town situated snugly between sea and desert. There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied here, from deep sea fishing to sky-diving, or perhaps exploring the desert on quad bikes. (Day 11 - BL, Day 12 - B)
Days 33-34, NAMIB NAUKLUFT NATIONAL PARKContinue to The Namib Naukluft National Park and the giant sand dunes of Sossusvlei. This is one of the world's oldest deserts, offering over 130 million years of natural wonder, and the highest sand dunes in the world. Climb the dunes for an unforgettable view. Time to explore the nearby Sesriem Canyon. (BLD)
Day 35, FISH RIVER CANYONWe head for the awesome Fish River Canyon where there is the chance to take in a beautiful sunset over the canyon or take an optional hike. (BL)
Day 36, GARIEP RIVER (formerly Orange River)Cross the border into South Africa and head for our camp on the riverbank. You will have the opportunity to take an optional canoe safari or sunset cruise. (BLD)
Day 37, CITRUSDALDrive to Citrusdal, where we can take short hikes or swim in the hot springs. (BL)
Days 38-39, CAPE TOWNSample the sights and sounds of this magical city at the southern end of the African continent. (B)
Day 40, CAPE TOWNTour ends. (B)
