1 week: Joensuu to Joensuu (IMT-UTFW)

Intro

In these northern latitudes the weather is no obstacle to the outdoor life, and winter offers a range of sports and activities to take advantage of Finland\'s pristine natural environment. Travel through the beautiful winter scenery on snowmobiles, learn to walk in snowshoes, explore the woods on cross-country skis, try your luck at ice fishing and go dog sledding with a team of huskies.

Itineraries

Day 1,JOENSUU

Arrive at Joensuu airport and transfer to our hotel in Koli, our base for the next week. (D)

Day 2,KOLI

After breakfast we set off on snowmobiles to explore the fantastic frozen scenery that surrounds us. Our journey takes us through forests and past lakes, into the wilderness of this impressive area. (BLD)

Day 3,KOLI

A different day, a different mode of transport. We take a more leisurely pace today as we go hiking with snowshoes - the only way to explore this land on foot. (BLD)

Day 4,KOLI

After breakfast, collect your set of cross-country skis, poles, and boots. For the morning, enjoy the services of an instructor who will help you master the basics of this quintessentially Finnish sport. Keep your equipment for the rest of the day and test out the many cross-country ski trails right by the hotel on your own. (BLD)

Day 5,KOLI

After breakfast we transfer to the starting point of our husky safari. The dog teams are harnessed and we will receive instruction on how to drive the dog sledge before heading out into the snow-covered nature, across frozen lakes. We enjoy lunch in a Sami tepee (kota). (BLD)

Day 6,KOLI

A free day to explore this fascinating area further. (BLD)

Day 7,KOLI

We head off on snowshoes to a nearby lake where we have the chance to try ice fishing. (BLD)

Day 8,JOENSUU

Our week ends with a transfer back to Joensuu airport for your flight home. (B)
