Intro

A magnificent Amalfi Coast holiday. Experience Campania, a region of Italy renowned since Roman times for its rugged beauty. We visit the city of Naples, wander the almost perfectly preserved streets of Pompeii, take a boat trip to the idyllic island of Capri and explore the picturesque Amalfi coastline. The tour ends amongst the limestone hills and forests of the Cilento National Park, a true Italian wilderness that is home to some of the last remaining wolves in Europe.

Itineraries

Day 1,NAPLES

Arrival day.

Day 2,NAPLES

The capital of the Campania region, Naples has a wealth of attractions to discover, including the Cathedral of St. Gennaro, the Royal Palace and the Church of St. Domenico. In the afternoon we have the opportunity to visit Pozzuoli and the Solfatara Crater, then sample some of the best pizza in Italy. (B)

Day 3,SORRENTO

After breakfast we depart for Pompeii, the ancient Roman city which was famously buried by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius. (B)

Day 4,AMALFI COAST – CAPRI

The island of Capri has been a popular holiday resort and beauty spot since Roman times. Today we take a trip out to the island by ferry. (B)

Day 5,AMALFI COAST

A full free day to explore the many picturesque coastal towns of this region. (B)

Day 6,PAESTUM

After enjoying a leisurely morning, we visit the magnificent ancient ruins of Paestum (Poseidonia), a Greco-Roman city founded at the end of the 7th century BC. Approx 3 hours driving. (B)

Day 7,CASALVELINO

On our way to Cilento National Park, we make a stop at Agropoli, a charming coastal town with a castle built on the remains of a Byzantine fortress. We spend the night in Casalvelino or Palinuro. Approx 1 hour driving. (B)

Day 8 to Day 9,CILENTO NATIONAL PARK

Cilento National Park is an area of stunning natural beauty, with limestone hills, forests and medieval villages. Our hotel is located in small resort nearby, from where we can travel into the park and explore the beautiful wilderness. (B)

Day 10,NAPLES

We return to Naples by train, where the tour ends on arrival. Approx 2 hrs train journey. The group generally arrives in Naples at around 14.00. (B)
