Uganda Teaching & Building - 28 days - Overland Trip

This 28 day project focuses on primary education. Schools are, over-crowded and lack proper facilities as there is no government funding to add new classrooms putting the burden on the community and parents. Split your time between a building project and teaching at a local school. Working alongside local builders, staying in the community and spending time with the kids, you\'ll become an essential part of the community. Take part in a unique experience where you can really make a difference to a Ugandan community.

Itineraries (Entebbe - Entebbe)
Day 1 Entebbe/Rural ProjectStart the day in Entebbe, a town by the shores of Lake Victoria. Meet your group and leader and then head off into the countryside to your new rural home. Your village is located not far from the town of Jinja. Be greeted by community representatives. Your accommodation will be basic and you'll be sharing a room with your fellow volunteers. Electricity might be sporadic, or not available at all - but this is all part of the adventure!
Day 2 VillageTake a tour of the school and get to know the village. There's also a chance to see the building site where you'll either start a project or continue and existing one.
Days 3-14 Teaching and BuildingTake some time out of your daily routine of building and teaching to learn some tribal greetings. Generally you'll work between 8am and 4pm rotating between classes and building. There are plenty of breaks during the day to rest and munch on some of the freshest fruit you've ever tasted. Each day you have the opportunity to explore the community. Walk along lush, humid valleys and through vibrant banana plantations to get a feel for the area. Don't be surprised if you're followed by the school kids - your new best friends!
Days 15-27 Cultural DevelopmentTalk to the community and get to know more about their needs. There is plenty of opportunity to create side projects. Perhaps an AIDs education program, teaching the adults some English or even setting up a football team!
Day 28 EntebbeSadly it's time to return to Entebbe. Bid farewell to your new friends and admire your building work for the last time before you hit the road once again.
