Camels, Opals & Ayers Rock - Overland Trip

1 week: Adelaide to Alice Springs (KU-AUF3)

Australia is a vast country, and at its centre the landscape seems to be endless sunbaked horizons, but the natural beauty and amazing land formations are worth the distances covered. Our seven day adventure begins in Adelaide, and then heads north across the Flinders Ranges, where we join a camel safari through the spectacular mountain ranges, before spending the night in the Wilpena Pound area. We continue on via the rocket launching town of Woomera, to the famous opal mining town of Coober Pedy, where we have a mine tour, and overnight in an underground motel. Our journey then takes us further north into the remote deserts of the Outback, to Ayers Rock (Uluru) where we watch the changing colours at sunset and sunrise. A guided base walk introduces us to the Aboriginal culture and spiritual meaning of the area, before we explore the spectacular domes, gorges and rugged valleys of the Olgas (Kata Tjuta) and Kings Canyon. Our outback adventure ends in the town of Alice Springs, home of the Camel Cup and base of the Royal Flying Doctors.
