Itineraries

Day 1,NAIROBI

On arrival make your way to the meeting point where you will meet your safari crew.

Day 2,ARUSHA

Early departure to cross the border into Tanzania. Continue to Arusha, known as the 'safari capital of Tanzania'. (BLD)

Day 3 to Day 5,SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND NGORONGORO CRATER

Travelling in specialized 4WD vehicles we view the magnificent game these parks offer. The Serengeti National Park is world famous for the great wildebeest migrations. We also visit the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest unbroken caldera in the world, which is home to 25,000 larger mammals and 100 species of birds. In the afternoon of day 5 we return to our camp in Arusha. (Days 3 & 4 – BLD, Day 5 – BL)

Day 6,DAR ES SALAAM

We proceed to Dar es Salaam and our camp on the beach. (BL)

Day 7 to Day 9,ZANZIBAR

This morning we take a ferry across to Zanzibar Island, renowned for its spices, and we have two full days to spend in this romantic place, where you can relax on the white sandy beaches, swim in the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean or take various excursions to explore the island. (B)

Day 10,DAR ES SALAAM

Return by ferry to Dar es Salaam. (BD)

Day 11,KIZOLONZA

Early morning departure through pristine and stunning bush for our camp near Iringa. (BLD) 

Day 12,LAKE MALAWI – CHIWETA

Today we cross into Malawi - known as the warm heart of Africa. Lake Malawi is home to over 350 species of fish and its clear water and beaches are excellent for swimming and relaxing. Tonight we stay at Chiweta, a rustic camp on the lakeshore set amongst fantastic baobab trees. (BLD)

Day 13 to Day 14,LAKE MALAWI – CHINTECHE

Our journey continues down the lake to beautiful rural Chinteche, where we camp close to the shoreline. (Day 13-BLD, Day 14-BL)

Day 15,LAKE MALAWI – SENGA BAY

Proceed to Salima and the fantastic Senga Bay, our camp for two days. Time to explore local villages or try out the many water sports and activities. (BLD)

Day 16 to Day 17,ZAMBIA – SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK

Heading west we enter into Zambia and the awesome South Luangwa National Park - notably one of Africa's best-kept secrets. We enjoy 2 game drives into the park; the second will be in the evening where we make use of a spotlight to track down nocturnal species such as leopard and genet. (Day 16 – BL, Day 17 - BLD)

Day 18,VILLAGE CAMP

We depart for Luangwa to our African village camp. This is a wonderful way to catch a glimpse of rural life in Zambia, as we literally camp inside the village. (BLD)

Day 19,LUSAKA

We proceed to Lusaka and camp on the outskirts of the city in a privately-owned rest camp. (BLD)

Day 20 to Day 21,VICTORIA FALLS

Today we are bound for Victoria Falls - one of the seven natural wonders of the world. You are free to explore it at your leisure. Take an optional sundowner cruise or enjoy masses of other adventure activities. (Day 20 – BL, Day 21 – B) *DUE TO UK FOREIGN OFFICE ADVICE AGAINST ALL BUT ESSENTIAL TRAVEL TO ZIMBABWE ALL 2008 TOURS IN AND OUT OF VICTORIA FALLS WILL NOW STAY IN LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA.

Day 22,CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

Departing Victoria Falls we head for. A short drive to Kasane brings us to our camp, situated right on the banks of the Chobe River. Chobe National Park is home to the largest herds of elephant in Africa. In the afternoon we will take a guided river cruise with game viewing. (BL)

Day 23,MAUN

We travel through Botswana and past the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, which are one of the flattest places on earth and famed for stunning Baobab trees. Today is a long day travelling to the little town of Maun, which is the gateway to the Okavango Delta. (BL)

Day 24 to Day 25,OKAVANGO DELTA - MOKORO SAFARI

The Okavango Delta is an incredible maze of inland waterways and lagoons. We'll be on safari 'mokoro' style, poled gently along in dugout canoes through this haven of wildlife and birds. You will be taken on game walks by your guides to experience the full splendour of the region. Overnight in wild camps. (BLD)

Day 26,MAUN

After breakfast we are poled back to our vehicle and transferred back to our camp in Maun. (BLD)

Day 27,GOBABIS

Cross the border into Namibia and proceed to Gobabis where we will overnight on a private game farm. (BL)

Day 28,WATERBERG PLATEAU NATIONAL PARK

Travel via Windhoek to the Waterberg Plateau National Park. Historically significant because it was the site of the war between the Germans and the Hereros, the area has now become a haven for many endangered species and is renowned for its incredible rock formations and walks. Plenty of free time to walk in the park at leisure. Optional game drives and guided walks are available. (BLD)

Day 29 to Day 30,ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

Etosha National Park is Namibia's premier game park. Dominated by shimmering white saltpans we have a chance to see elephant as well as black rhino, lion and leopard. All camps have floodlit water holes, which are excellent for after-dinner game viewing. We enjoy 3 game drives whilst at Etosha. (Day 29 – BLD, Day 30 – BL)

Day 31 to Day 32,SWAKOPMUND

Journey to Swakopmund, a delightful Bavarian-style town, situated between sea and desert Great beaches, lots of water and other activities plus an array of shops, bars and restaurants await you. (Day 31 – BL, Day 32 - B)

Day 33 to Day 34,NAMIB NAUKLUFT NATIONAL PARK

Continue to the Namib Naukluft National Park and the giant sand dunes of Sossusvlei. This is one of the world's oldest deserts, over 130 million years of natural wonder, and the highest sand dunes in the world. Climb the dunes for an unforgettable sunrise. There is also time to explore the nearby Sesriem Canyon. (BLD)

Day 35,FISH RIVER CANYON

We head for the awesome Fish River Canyon. There will be time to take in a beautiful sunset over the canyon or partake in an optional walk. (BL)

Day 36,GARIEP RIVER (formerly Orange River)

Cross the border into South Africa and head for our camp on the riverbank. You will have the opportunity to partake in an optional canoe safari.. (BLD)

Day 37,CITRUSDAL

Drive to Citrusdal, where we can take short hikes or swim in the hot springs. (BL)

Day 38 to Day 39,CAPE TOWN

Sample the sights and sounds of this magical city at the southern end of the African continent. (B)
