Intro

Adventure travel in Tanzania offers incredible diversity - National Parks teeming with wildlife, magnificent scenery, the awesome Mt Kilimanjaro and just off the coast, the delightful island of Zanzibar. The main attractions of Zanzibar are the old Stone Town, steeped in intriguing history, and its fantastic beaches. This safari gives a wonderful balance of the best of wild Tanzania and the relaxing ‘Spice Island’.

Itineraries

Day 1,NAIROBI

Arrive and transfer to hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to relax or explore this vibrant African city.

Day 2,NAIROBI – ARUSHA

We depart early and make our way from Nairobi across the border into Tanzania, and head for Arusha. (BLD)

Day 3 to Day 4,SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast we move on to the Serengeti, one of the best known wildlife areas in the world. The park is host to the spectacular annual migration of wildebeest in late May or early June. (BLD)

Day 5,NGORONGORO CRATER

Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater via the Olduvai Gorge, where fossil remains dating back 1.75 million years were found. The crater is teeming with wildlife and birdlife and offers superb opportunities for game viewing. We descend into the crater for a game drive using 4WD vehicles. (BLD)

Day 6,LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK - ARUSHA

One of Tanzania's most diverse parks, the combination of lakes, woodlands and mountains in Lake Manyara make for superb game and bird viewing. The park is home to large herds of elephants and is also known for its tree climbing lions. We take a game drive here before returning to Arusha. (BL)

Day 7,DAR ES SALAAM

A long day’s drive to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest and most exciting city. (B)

Day 8 to Day 12,ZANZIBAR

This morning we take a ferry across to Zanzibar Island, otherwise known as the ‘Spice Island’. We have five nights to spend in this cultural melting pot of African, Arabic and Indian cultures, renowned for its spices. Relax on the white sandy beaches, swim in the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean or take various excursions to explore the island. You will spend 2 nights in atmospheric Stonetown and the remaining 3 nights by the beach (B)

Day 13,DAR ES SALAAM

We leave Zanzibar and head back to the mainland of Tanzania. Tour ends on arrival in Dar es Salaam. Please note that one group transfer at 11am is included back to Stonetown from the beach. You will catch the 1pm ferry arriving into Dar Es Salaam at approximately 3pm. Should you wish to travel at a different time a supplement will be payable for a separate transfer. (B)
