Our incredible 3-week journey of discovery with so much included that you have to see the whole itinerary. Start with the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, head into Zambia\'s South Luangwa National Park for an evening game drive before making for Malawi and the fresh water jewel of Lake Malawi. Explore exotic Zanzibar Island and make your way across the plains of the Serengeti, visiting Africa\'s spectacular Rift Valley and then on to the capital of Kenya, Nairobi. Day 1,VICTORIA FALLSArrival day. The awesome Victoria Falls is one of the natural wonders of the world. Explore it at your leisure. Take a “sundowner” cruise or enjoy hoards of other adventure activities. Please note: Entrance fees to Victoria Falls are not included in the cost of this tour. Travellers may wish to visit either the Zimbabwean or Zambian side of the Falls - the Zimbabwean side is said to have a better view of the main cascade. At the time of writing, entry to the Falls in both countries costs US$30 per person. *DUE TO UK FOREIGN OFFICE ADVICE AGAINST ALL BUT ESSENTIAL TRAVEL TO ZIMBABWE ALL 2008 TOURS IN AND OUT OF VICTORIA FALLS WILL NOW START OR END IN LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA.
Day 2,LUSAKAWe depart early for the capital Lusaka and camp on the outskirts of the city in a privately owned rest camp. (BLD)
Day 3,BUSH CAMPWe proceed through pristine African bush to our bush camp in a rural village, a fantastic way to catch a glimpse into rural African life. We choose our stops very carefully in conjunction with the chiefs of each village. (BLD)
Day 4 to Day 5,SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARKHeading north we visit the impressive South Luangwa National Park notably one of Africa's best-kept secrets. We make two game drives into the park, one of them in the evening and we will make use of a spotlight to track down nocturnal species such as leopard and spotted genets. (Day 4 – BL, Day 5 – BLD)
Day 6,LAKE MALAWI - SENGA BAYCross the border into Malawi, known as the warm heart of Africa. You will have a chance to interact with these wonderful rural people when we visit the lakeshore fishing villages. We travel up the lake stopping at carefully selected camps. There will be time at Senga Bay to relax and explore, and try the many optional lake activities. (BLD)
Day 7 to Day 8,LAKE MALAWI - CHINTECHEOur journey continues up the lake to beautiful Chinteche, where we camp close to the shoreline and have time to visit local villages as well as try out some of the optional activities available. (Day 7 – BLD, Day 8 – BL)
Day 9,LAKE MALAWI - CHIWETAWe travel through the town of Mzuzu to a rustic camp on the lake-shore set amongst Baobab trees. (BLD)
Day 10,KIZOLONZAWe cross into Tanzania to our camp near Iringa, situated on a local farm. (BLD)
Day 11,DAR ES SALAAMWe proceed to the lively city of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city and full of Arab and Asian influences. We camp tonight on the beach and prepare for our trip to fabulous Zanzibar. (BL)
Day 12 to Day 14,ZANZIBAR ISLANDEarly morning departure to catch the ferry to Zanzibar. This Indian Ocean island is a cultural melting pot of African, Arabic and Indian cultures, and is renowned for its spices. We stay in the north of the island, with turquoise waters and palm fringed beaches, and have two full days to explore. (B)
Day 15,DAR ES SALAAMWe return to Dar es Salaam and our beach camp. (BD)
Day 16,ARUSHAArusha is a fairly developed town known as the 'safari capital of Tanzania'. Upon arrival at our camp in Arusha we start preparations for our excursion into the Serengeti and Ngorongoro National Parks. (BLD)
Day 17 to Day 19,SERENGETI NP AND NGORONGORO CRATERStarting early we head for the Serengeti National Park, with game viewing en route. The Serengeti National Park is world renowned for the great wildebeest migrations. The following morning we do an early morning game drive in the Serengeti and after lunch head for the Ngorongoro Crater NP, the largest unbroken caldera in the world. It plays host to up to 25,000 larger mammals and 100 species of bird. The next day we will do a morning tour of the Crater and then return to Arusha in the afternoon. Day 20,NAIROBIWe cross the border into Kenya and head straight to Nairobi. (BL)
Day 21,NAIROBITour ends after breakfast. (B)
