Itineraries (Marrakech - Marrakech)

Arrive in Marrakech and transfer to Riad Kaiss, located in the medina.

This morning you have a half day guided tour around the sights of Marrakech. The rest of the day is free to explore this fascinating city. (B)

Travel to the High Atlas Mountains, which contain some of Morocco's most picturesque scenery and are dotted with traditional Berber villages. You stay at La Roseraie. (BD)

A free day to soak up the amazing scenery, take walks in the surrounding area, or relax in the spa. (BD)

Drive to the walled city of Taroudannt via the Tizi n' Test pass, one of the oldest mountain highways in Morocco. On the way you have the opportunity to visit the ancient Tin Mal Mosque, one of the very few in the country that are open to non-Muslims. This afternoon is free to explore Taroudannt. Tonight you stay at Palais Salam. (B)

Journey to Ait Ben Haddou, once an important centre of the Saharan camel caravan trade, now largely abandoned and probably the best preserved collection of kasbahs to be found in the country. Ait Ben Haddou has been used as the backdrop for numerous Hollywood films and is a great example of how rural Morocco once was. You stay in Dar Mouna. (BD)

Travel along the Valley of 1000 Kasbahs before reaching Todra, with its lush palm-lined valley and towering gorge. After a short stop you continue to Merzouga, on the edge of the mighty Sahara desert, where you stay in an auberge, the Kasbah Mohayut, beside the impressive sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. (BD)

Take a morning excursion to some of the nearby villages to gain an insight into life in the desert. This afternoon you ride camels into the dunes. Stay overnight in a camp in the dunes. (BD)

A full day journey from the desert to the famous city of Fes, travelling through the Middle Atlas Mountains. En route you pass the Ziz Gorge, with its impressive rock formations, and may have a chance to see the Barbary apes living in the cedar forests near Azrou. You stay for the next two nights in Dar el Batoul, situated in the medina. (B)

A full day guided tour of this impressive city, taking in the medina, built in the 9th century with approximately 9,000 streets, and perhaps the best preserved example of medieval Islamic architecture to be found anywhere. (B)

Visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis before continuing on to Rabat, Morocco's cosmopolitan capital. You stay in Dar el Batoul, in the heart of the town. (B)

A journey along Morocco's Atlantic coastline takes you to Essaouira, a pretty seaside town that was once a Portuguese fort. Your accommodation for the next two nights is in Dar Ness. (B)

A free day to explore this quaint town. Head down to the fishing port in the morning to see the boats unloading their catch from the night before, wander in the alleys and discover the traditional wood-workers or take a sunset camel ride along the beach. (B)

Travel back to Marrakech where the rest of the day is free to explore. (B)

Your trip ends with a transfer to the airport for your flight home. (B)
