Day 7 to Day 8,KAOKOLANDWe cross the mountains into the far northern region of Kaokoland, the home of the Himba, who arrived in Namibia as late as the 1920s and continued their existence almost unchanged in the far northern regions until late into the 20th century. Today many of them still follow traditional customs and adhere to traditional forms of dress. We will spend our time at two sites, Sesfontein and Opuwo, and on Day 8 we visit a Himba village, asking permission to enter and offering gifts of food for the whole community to show appreciation for the hospitality we hope to receive. We may also, if we're lucky, catch a glimpse of the rare desert elephant. (Day 7 - BLD, Day 8 BL)
