Itineraries (Amman - Cairo)

Arrive and check into your hotel. (No meals)

City tour of Amman on foot. We visit the amphitheatre, the citadel and walk in the old souq (bazaar). Optional afternoon tour to Jerash (US$30). Overnight in Amman. (B)

Morning visit to the Dead Sea (US$15 entrance). Afternoon transfer to Wadi Musa beside the Hidden city of Petra. Optional evening Turkish bath (US$30). (BD) Approx 6 hours driving

We spend most of the day exploring the magnificent hidden city of Petra. Later in the afternoon we head into the desert to Wadi Rum where we spend the night in a Bedouin style camp. (BD) Approx. 2 hrs driving

Join the Bedouin people of Wadi Rum for a short camel trek into the desert. Optional jeep safari (US$15). Later we drive to the coastal town of Aqaba. (B) Approx. 1 hr driving

Board the hydrofoil to cross the Gulf of Aqaba to Nuweiba in the Sinai. Continue to the coastal village of Dahab. (B) Approx. 6 - 8 hrs travelling -including time spent completing port formalities. Note: If the hydrofoil service from Nuweiba to Aqaba is not operating we will travel by ferry instead. This may necessitate a change to the published itinerary.

Free morning in Dahab where you can relax on the beach or snorkel amidst the crystal water and the coral gardens of the Red Sea (US$10). In the afternoon transfer to St Catherine where we spend the night near the foot of Mt Sinai. (BD) Approx 2 hrs drive

We rise early to climb Mt Sinai for sunrise. After breakfast return to Cairo via the Suez Canal. (B) Approx. 7 hrs driving

Morning visit to the Pyramids & Sphinx at Giza. Later there is the option to visit the Egyptian museum with an Egyptologist (US$28). In the evening we board the overnight seating train to Aswan (B) Approx. 13 hrs train journey

Arrive to Aswan and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore this colourful and vibrant Nubian city. You could visit Philae Temple, the Aswan High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk (US$24), see the sound and light show at Philae (US$24) or take a camel ride to St Simeon's Monastery (us$15). (B)

A free morning where there will be an opportunity to visit the magnificent temples of Abu Simbel by bus (US$50), or by air (US$215). In the afternoon we board our feluccas to sail around the local islands of Aswan. Late in the afternoon we disembark to visit a Nubian village and have a typical Nubian Dinner. Overnight on board the Felucca. (BLD)

Disembark the felucca this morning and drive to Luxor, there will be a chance to visit the riverside temple at Kom Ombo and the temple of Horas at Edfu before arriving to Luxor. In the afternoon we take the horse-drawn carriages for a guided tour of Karnak temple. Evening sound and light show at Karnak (US$28). (B) Approx 7 hrs drive

Ride to the Valley of the Kings on sturdy donkeys. Our route back takes us past the Colossi of Memnon. Free afternoon. In the evening we board the overnight train to Cairo. (B) Approx. 10 hrs train journey

Transfer to the hotel upon arrival. The rest of the day is free to explore the city for the last time or perhaps take a camel ride and watch a brilliant sunset over the Pyramids (US$35). (B)
