Itineraries

Days 1-5 Dahab

Drawing its name from the colour of the coast's stretch of sand, Dahab, or 'gold' in Arabic, was once a laidback Bedouin village. Today, this bustling beachside town is the perfect Red Sea escape, offering water sports and utter relaxation. Unwind in the shade of swaying palm trees beneath endless blue skies, soak up the cruisy atmosphere and enjoy the dramatic mountain views in the distance. Diving and snorkelling enthusiasts will revel in exploring an underwater wonderland filled with colourful marine life. The turquoise waters are also ideal for kayaking or swimming under the Egyptian sun. Away from the water, wander the local markets to get a taste of Bedouin culture, take a day trip to Mt Sinai and the nearby Orthodox monastery of St Katherine's or explore the desert to visit a neighbouring oasis. Spend evenings feasting on seafood and watching the sun melt into the Red Sea from a waterfront restaurant -the view over to Saudi Arabia, twinkling in the twilight, is sublime.
