Day 1,NAIROBIOn arrival make your way to the meeting point where you will meet your safari crew.
Day 2,ARUSHAEarly departure to cross the border into Tanzania. Continue to Arusha, known as the 'safari capital of Tanzania'. (BLD)
Day 3 to Day 5,SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND NGORONGORO CRATERTravelling in specialized 4WD vehicles we view the magnificent game these parks offer. The Serengeti National Park is world famous for the great wildebeest migrations. We also visit the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest unbroken caldera in the world, which is home to 25,000 larger mammals and 100 species of birds. In the afternoon of day 5 we return to our camp in Arusha. (Days 3 & 4 – BLD, Day 5 – BL)
Day 6,DAR ES SALAAMWe proceed to Dar es Salaam and our camp on the beach. (BL)
Day 7 to Day 9,ZANZIBAREarly morning departure to catch the ferry to Zanzibar. This Indian Ocean island is a cultural melting pot of African, Arabic and Indian cultures, and is renowned for its spices. We spend one night in the historic and atmospheric capital Stone Town, and then transfer to the west coast with its turquoise waters and beautiful palm fringed beaches. (B)
Day 10,DAR ES SALAAMReturn by ferry to Dar es Salaam. (BD)
Day 11,KIZOLONZAEarly morning departure through pristine and stunning bush for our camp near Iringa. (BLD)
Day 12 to Day 13,LAKE MALAWI – CHITIMBAToday we cross into Malawi - known as the warm heart of Africa. Lake Malawi is home to over 350 species of fish and its fresh clear water and beaches are excellent for swimming and relaxing. We stay for two nights at Chitimba, on the shores of the lake. (BLD)
Day 14,LAKE MALAWI - SENGA BAYOur journey continues down the lake to Salima and the fantastic Senga Bay. Time to explore local villages or try out the many water sports and activities. (BLD)
Day 15 to Day 16,ZAMBIA - SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARKHeading west we enter into Zambia and the awesome South Luangwa National Park - notably one of Africa's best-kept secrets. We enjoy 2 game drives into the park; the second will be in the evening where we make use of a spotlight to track down nocturnal species such as leopard and spotted genet. (Day 15 – BL, Day 16 – BLD)
Day 17,LUANGWA RIVERWe head to our camp on the west bank of the Luangwa River. Optional activities here include boat trips and canoeing. (BLD)
Day 18,LOWER ZAMBEZIContinue our journey along the Great East Road until we reach our camp at the confluence of the Zambezi and Kafue rivers, and start preparations for our canoe safari. (BLD)
Day 19 to Day 20,LOWER ZAMBEZI CANOE SAFARIWe embark on an overnight canoe safari on the mighty Zambezi River. This gives us a great opportunity to see game and birdlife up close and offers a completely different experience of travel in this part of Africa. On Day 19 we camp overnight at a secluded spot on the banks of the river – undoubtedly one of the highlights of this trip. Please note that if you would prefer not to take part in this you will be able to stay behind at base camp and take a sunset cruise instead. (BLD)
Day 21,VICTORIA FALLSToday we are bound for Victoria Falls - one of the 'seven natural wonders' of the world. You are free to explore it at your leisure. Take an optional ‘sundowner’ cruise or enjoy hoards of other adventure activities. (BL)
Day 22 to Day 23,VICTORIA FALLSFree time at Victoria Falls. (B)
Day 24,CHOBE NATIONAL PARKDeparting Victoria Falls we head for Botswana. A short drive to Kasane to our camp situated right on the banks of the Chobe River. Chobe National Park is home to the largest herds of elephant in Africa. In the afternoon we will take a guided river cruise with game viewing. (BL)
Day 25,MAUNA long day as we travel through Botswana and on to the little town of Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. (BLD)
Day 26 to Day 27,OKAVANGO DELTA – MOKORO SAFARIThe Okavango Delta is an incredible maze inland waterways and lagoons. We'll be on safari 'mokoro' style, poled gently along in canoes, hand hewn from logs, through this haven of wildlife and birds. We also take guided game walks to experience the full splendour of the region. Overnight in wild camps. (BLD)
Day 28,MAUNAfter breakfast we are gently poled back to our vehicle and transferred back to our camp in Maun. (BL)
Day 29,GOBABISCross the border into Namibia. We stay near Gobabis on a private game farm, dedicated to the protection of big cats. We should have excellent opportunities for seeing lion, leopard and cheetah up close. (BL)
Day 30,WATERBERG PLATEAU NATIONAL PARKTravel to the Waterberg Plateau National Park. Historically significant because it was the site of the war between the Germans and the Hereros, the area has now become a haven for many endangered species and renowned for its incredible rock formations and walks. We have time to explore the reserve and take a short hike up the plateau. (BLD)
Day 31 to Day 32,ETOSHA NATIONAL PARKEtosha National Park is Namibia's premier game park. Dominated by shimmering white saltpans you have a chance to see elephant as well as black rhino, lion and leopard. We enjoy 3 game drives whilst at Etosha. (Day 31 – BLD, Day 32 - BL)
Day 33 to Day 34,SWAKOPMUNDWe spend two nights in Swakopmund, a delightful Bavarian-style town, situated snugly between sea and desert. There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied here, from deep sea fishing to sky-diving, or perhaps exploring the desert on quad bikes. (Day 33 – BL, Day 34 – B)
Day 35 to Day 36,NAMIB NAUKLUFT NATIONAL PARKContinue to The Namib Naukluft National Park and the giant sand dunes of Sossusvlei. This is one of the world's oldest deserts, offering over 130 million years of natural wonder, and the highest sand dunes in the world Climb the dunes for an unforgettable view. Time to explore the nearby Sesriem Canyon. (BLD)
Day 37,FISH RIVER CANYONWe head for the awesome Fish River Canyon where there is the chance to take in a beautiful sunset over the canyon or take an optional hike along the canyon rim. (BL)
Day 38,GARIEP RIVER (formerly Orange River)Cross the border into South Africa and head for our camp on the riverbank. You will have the opportunity to take an optional canoe safari. (BLD)
Day 39,CITRUSDALCross the border into South Africa and drive to Citrusdal, where we can take short hikes or swim in the hot springs. (BL)
Day 40,CAPE TOWNOur last stop is Cape Town. Sample the sights and sounds of this magical city at the southern end of the African continent. (B)
Day 41,CAPE TOWNTour ends. (B)
