Intro

Your journey begins in Kenya in Africa\'s spectacular Rift Valley, with the wide open plains of East Africa stretched before us. You\'ll be enthralled by Africa\'s tribal people and extraordinary abundance of wildlife. Make your way down through the plains of the Serengeti, explore the coastal reefs of exotic Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean, and discover the freshwater jewel of Lake Malawi. In Zambia\'s South Luangwa National Park we\'ll seek out some of Africa\'s big cats on an unforgettable evening game drive. Our incredible 3-week journey of discovery ends at one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, spanning the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Itineraries

Day 1,NAIROBI

Arrive and meet safari crew

Day 2,ARUSHA

Early departure to cross the border into Tanzania. Continue to Arusha, a fairly developed town known as the safari capital of Tanzania. (BLD)

Day 3 to Day 5,SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND NGORONGORO CRATER

Travelling in specialized 4WD vehicles we view the magnificent game these parks offer. The Serengeti National Park is world renowned for the great wildebeest migrations. We also visit the Ngorongoro National Park, the largest unbroken caldera in the world that plays host to up to 25,000 larger mammals and 100 species of birds. In the afternoon of day 5 we return to our camp in Arusha. (Days 3 & 4 - BLD, Day 5 - BL)

Day 6,DAR ES SALAAM

We proceed to Dar es Salaam and our camp on the beach. (BL)

Day 7 to Day 9,ZANZIBAR

Early morning departure to catch the ferry to Zanzibar. This Indian Ocean island is a cultural melting pot of African, Arabic and Indian cultures, and is renowned for its spices. We spend one night in the historic and atmospheric capital Stone Town, and then transfer to the west coast with its turquoise waters and beautiful palm fringed beaches. (B)

Day 10,DAR ES SALAAM

Return by ferry to Dar es Salaam. (BD)

Day 11,KIZOLONZA

Early morning departure through pristine and stunning bush for our camp at Kizolonza. (BLD)

Day 12 to Day 13,LAKE MALAWI - CHITIMBA

Today we cross into Malawi - known as the warm heart of Africa. Lake Malawi is home to over 350 species of fish and its fresh clear water and beaches are excellent for swimming and relaxing. We stay for two nights at Chitimba, on the shores of the lake. (BLD)

Day 14,LAKE MALAWI - SENGA BAY

Our journey continues down the lake to Salima and the fantastic Senga Bay. Time to explore local villages or try out the many water sports and activities. (BLD)

Day 15 to Day 16,ZAMBIA - SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK

Heading west we enter into Zambia and the awesome South Luangwa National Park - notably one of Africa's best-kept secrets. We enjoy 2 game drives into the park; the second will be in the evening where we make use of a spotlight to track down nocturnal species such as leopard and spotted genet. (Day 15 – BL, Day 16 – BLD)

Day 17,LUANGWA RIVER

We head to our camp on the west bank of the Luangwa River. Optional activities here include boat trips and canoeing. (BLD)

Day 18,LOWER ZAMBEZI

Continue our journey along the Great East Road until we reach our camp at the confluence of the Zambezi and Kafue rivers, and start preparations for our canoe safari. (BLD)

Day 19 to Day 20,LOWER ZAMBEZI CANOE SAFARI

We embark on an overnight canoe safari on the mighty Zambezi River. This gives us a great opportunity to see game and birdlife up close and offers a completely different experience of travel in this part of Africa. On Day 19 we camp overnight at a secluded spot on the banks of the river – undoubtedly one of the highlights of this trip. Please note that if you would prefer not to take part in this you will be able to stay behind at base camp and take a sunset cruise instead. (BLD)

Day 21,VICTORIA FALLS

Today we are bound for Victoria Falls - one of the 'seven natural wonders' of the world. You are free to explore it at your leisure. Take an optional ‘sundowner’ cruise or enjoy hoards of other adventure activities. (BL)

Day 22,VICTORIA FALLS

Tour ends after breakfast. (B)
